Adobe announced that they’ve made a special version of the Flash Player available to Google and Yahoo that allows them to fully index rich Internet applications and other SWF content. The content in rich Internet applications is now available to Google, and that means that RIAs should be easier to find in Google. This is one of the main issues that people ask about when talking about rich Internet applications, so its great to see Google, Yahoo and Adobe working together to solve this problem.

Adobe has created a special Flash player for the search engines that acts like a virtual user going through each application. It actually goes through the runtime of each Flash application and translates it into something the search engines can understand..

While the world is off bandwagoning on blog posts about Twitter and how much of an influence/frustration it is, I wanted to get back to the root of some things. I’ve been troubled a lot lately by just how bad it seems that web (online) experiences for brands are failing the consumers. The amount of money wasted on ignorance, well, I just don’t know.
As every good marketer should know–from Marketing 101–it is very important that you maintain a brand, or an extension of it. This means that you want people to not only use your product or service, but that you want them to see a benefit from it, and ultimately continue to use it in the future.
..
Once upon a time, within the past few months of my life, I gave a survey to about 60 or so people in regards to beverage websites that I asked them to view. It was a very simple survey (in exchange for answers, I offered consumers their pick from a grab bag of about $30 in CVS-purchased chocolates and candies–and yes, I had more than enough volunteers), with each person focusing on one of the 5 websites and then answering 10 questions. The first nine focused on rating things from 1-5 (for easy math), the last question asking whether or not the consumer would ever return to the website. Number ten was open-ended, and I asked for open comments, preferably focused upon what would prompt the consumer to return to the site.

In 2004, he was listening to some guy named Chris on a panel and all these domains were out there that expired but were linked to by .gov and .edu websites. Most of you should know that these are pretty valuable links. They’re generally more trusted (at least in ‘04 and ‘05). A lot of people didn’t take Chris seriously at the time. He built a spider to find these sites and checked them against the Yahoo directory and DMOZ directory. After doing 1.5 months of work, 1500 domains were out there in the wild that had amazing links.

I think it is about time I revisit a post I wrote in 2006 named In SEO, What Changes Should You Track. We have a new thread over at Cre8asite Forums talking about what logs you should keep when making changes to your site, for the purposes of SEO.
Most of you know, I am a strong believer of using an automated method of documentation. By building in a required workflow, you can also build automated tracking systems to document any change made to the web site or link building activities, so that you can report back in time on those changes..
..
Back in our original post, we said you should track the following:
- every change to robots.txt (CVS can handle this)
- every change to htaccess (or Internet Services Manager in IIS)

Domain, Promoting Website, SEO
I do not own too many .info domain names, but a couple of them that I do own have quite solid link profiles. In spite of this, on May 23rd all of my .info websites (including search-marketing.info) disappeared from Google’s search results. And then the next day it returned. It may have just been a ranking glitch, but many other webmasters had the same issue… their .info domain names simply disappeared from Google.
Why would such a thing happen?

Basically, keywords can do a lot of magic to your blog in terms of traffic through search engines. It is because search engines understand your blog through keywords. When someone tries to search for a certain keyword through Google, Yahoo, or MSN, it will show results of the sites they have indexed containing the word that someone is looking for. Depending on the keyword consistency of the page and the site as a whole, the search engines display their results according to the authority of the site on that particular keyword from the strongest to the weakest; where traffic, most of the time, is exclusive only to those who are displayed on the first to the tenth results page. By using keywords effectively in your posts, theoretically, you’ll increase your traffic from search engines because you’ll get your site displayed on the first five or ten search result pages of your keywords. At the same time, you’ll have audience who are interested in what you have to say or offer because you appeared in their searches.

Find the hottest keywords
Sometimes, you might want to fight fire with fire rather than build things slowly because the keywords you’ve been brainstorming about don’t get a sufficient search volume which you could call a boost in traffic. And one way to get that hot traffic is to get highly searched keywords into your blog..

CMS, Joomla and Mambo, Promoting Website, SEO
Mambo has been dying a slow death since the split from Joomla. In fact, the last time I visited their site was when they were forking again!
Its sad to see a once-great project in such a state. Several links on the homepage are broken, only three users were in the forum compared to over 800 in the Joomla forums and the “Download Mambo” didn’t work.
..
Even more shocking was that Siteground, whose antics we’ve covered here before, seem to have taken control of Mamboserver.com.
- Siteground dominate the homepage. I know they need financial support but 4 of the 7 frontpage stories are advertisements for Siteground. Theres also an ad for FilesFrom.com, completely unrelated to Joomla, but run by Peter Lamont, former project leader.

You may be aware that the Internet is becoming very crowded. Google will attempt to help you get where you want to go, but is having increasing difficulties. Part of that is Google’s doing. Tags To Bring Order To The Cyber Sphere
Tagging certainly seems to be something that has real potential in helping us all navigate our way through the World Wide Web. Tags do of course come in two flavors.
